About Obesity

Obesity, in simple terms, is being overweight (excessively) because of extra fat accumulation in the body. This medical condition is a result of an unhealthy diet, hormonal fluctuation, genetics, less physical activity, or any other underlying condition. Those who suffer from stress, lack of sleep, sedentary lifestyle have difficulty managing their weight. If a person is obese, the consequences are physiological and social. There is a risk of heart disease, hypertension, liver disease, stroke, joint pain, sleep apnea, and infertility, which strain muscles and weaken the bones, and people may find it difficult to conquer the social stigma.

What We DO

For diagnosis of Obesity, evaluations like waist-to-hip ratio and skinfold thickness are carried out along with the Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation (BMI more than 30 is termed as Obesity). Imaging scans like MRIs are also helpful in detecting it. Once the examination is done, treatments are suggested to lower overweight. These include medications and lifestyle changes like increasing physical workouts, intake of nutrients, and treating those problems that cause Obesity. It is vital to treat Obesity by burning more calories than you intake, and the treatments suggested are aimed at keeping your health in check!
